Annual Residential Dance Week 2018

2018 Residential Dance Event

From Monday 7th May - Friday 11th May 2018 we danced at The Cober Hill Hotel, near Scarborough on our Annual Gay Gordons Dance Event.

Cober Hill is a fine Victorian mansion on the outskirts of Scarborough, bought by the Rowntree family in the 1920s to encourage community based residential events, it is highly recommended by other dance groups.

We had exclusive use of a theatre for dancing and group events. There were four morning classes (Tuesday-Friday), a mixed programme of optional events and a Ceilidh, with a mix of dances and entertainment on Wednesday evening. On the other three evenings there was social dancing where we enjoyed old, new and favourite dances.

Thanks go to everyone who attended and contributed their knowledge, dancing skills and good humour to the event.

Special Thanks go to Roy, Murrough and Dave (from The Manchester Gay Gordons) who taught classes, and to Richard, who taught, and organised the event.

We hope that everyone who attended had a good time and we plan to organise another event next year.

Our residential events are great fun and extremely rewarding. If you would like to come please email

We do hope that you can join us again next year.

The Gay Gordons, London’s Scottish Country Dance Club for the LGBTQIA community, their friends and supporters, present their ninth annual week of Scottish Country Dancing, this year we are at The Cober Hill Hotel near Scarborough.
